The Cursed Tree's Sealing Magic

major Active Sessions 1–3
central narrative

Description

The Cursed Tree once held an aura of dread and protective abjuration magic sealing something within. With Applegate dead and consumed by the tree, that sealing magic is fading—dark purple skull-shaped mushrooms now bloom among the stones, and vines seized Caelum to deliver nightmarish visions. Daria proposed restoring the sealing magic and Caelum agreed. The open question: what is sealed within the Cursed Tree, and can the sealing magic be restored before it breaks free? Session 3 update: Praetor directs Caelum to books on the Great Trees of Sabra in the royal library, connecting the Cursed Tree to a broader continental network of Great Trees. Caelum also glimpses very old unusual books on Praetor's desk connected to what his parents researched before vanishing. The Cursed Tree is being contextualized within a larger mystery of ancient arboreal magic, even as the sealing magic remains unrestored.
